RIP Monty Oum

Monty Oum of Rooster Teeth has passed away at the age of 33.

  • UPDATE: The Know has posted this video about Monty Oum's passing, hosted by Meg Turney. I can't imagine how hard it must have been to do this. Thank you, Meg.

  • Monty Oum, animator, director, personality and creative driving force behind the show RWBY on the Rooster Teeth channel, has passed away due to an allergic reaction during a medical procedure which left him in a coma.

Matt Hullum, CEO and co-founder of Rooster Teeth, posted this on their website today. In case the link doesn't work, because of the amount of grieving fans and support hitting RoosterTeeth.com today, here's a screenshot of Hullum's message to everyone.

  • He died surrounded by his co-workers, friends and family. The outpouring of support from Rooster Teeth fans led to the GoFundMe page opened tohelp his family with the medical expenses to reach over $100,000 in the first 24 hours.

The GoFundMe page to help them get through this tough time and get through this ordeal financially is still open and you can donate here.

He will be remembered dearly and missed by many. His work will live on, so take a moment to check it out if you get the chance. We've truly lost a great creative mind.
