Apparently, stealing fries can land you actual jail time!
A woman in Washington, D.C. is facing real charges of second-degree theft for swiping three french fries. According to Mashable, the incident occurred on September 7th at an Italian Kitchen on U.
A police officer was eating dinner when two women, who police believe were intoxicated at the time, came up and attempted to strike up a conversation with the officer. One of the women decided that his french fries looked good enough for her to eat, and snagged two fries off of his plate. The officer stated on the police report:
“I politely asked D-1 to not do that again because I paid for that food and she was stealing from me and she could be arrested for theft of my food.”
Well, the woman decided to take the risk, allegedly responded, Well then you might as well take me to jail,” and stole another french fry, which ended with her being arrested.
