  • The world lost another musical luminary this week when George Michael passed away. The legendary singer was known for his incredible work with Wham!, in particular the song Last Christmas and his solo work creating countless classics including Father Figure, Faith and Freedom. He was synonymous with a beauty, a higher aspiration, and once he came out of the closet he was an important role model to queer and straight alike. His loss has let loose many remembrances pieces, and a few oddities from his career.

  • For example, did you know George Michael was an absurdly generous person? He donated his profits from Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me to the Terrence Higgins Trust, an organization meant to raise money to fight HIV. Or did you kno he secretly donated 15,000 pounds to help a Deal or No Deal Contestant with her IVF treatments?

  • One of the odder and more modern pieces of George Michael trivia — he was the very first Carpool Karaoke participant. This is connected to his charity, as it was with James Corden for the charity Comic Relief. Here it is below.

  • Spotify put together an excellent playlist of his best music and you can listen to it here. He was a brilliant musician and will be missed. Share your best George Michael thoughts in the comments or on Twitter at @WhatsTrending.
