  • Jonathan Demme, the Academy Award winning director known for films such as Married to the Mob, Philadelphia, and most famously Silence of the Lambs passed away on April 26th, 2017 at the age of 73 after a battle with cancer.

The director was known for his masterpieces, and what's more, having them be in a filmography that was startlingly diverse. While he was best known for his serial killer horror film, Silence of the Lambs, he also directed broad comedy (Married to the Mob), started his career with exploitation films (Caged Heat, amongst others), and even created the film version of storyteller Spalding Gray's Swimming to Cambodia. He created the introspective Rachel Getting Married in 2008 which received a small following, and garnered Anne Hathaway her first Academy Award nomination, and even found the time and mastery to direct a Justin Timberlake special.
