I’ll be honest – I didn’t know what to expect, but the video in question had me teared up. Elizabeth Warren has announced her plans to create an exploratory committee for the presidency of the United States in a beautiful video that hits all the right notes and will make you tear up regardless of what side of the political divide you’re on. The video brings to the table the conversation brought into the mainstream by Bernie Sanders – the attack on the middle class brought on by large businesses. Additionally, it discusses the emergence of the alt right, showing clips of Tucker Carlson, Steve Bannon and of course Donald Trump — figureheads who have enabled big businesses and created a culture of hatred and racism. Liz Warren then went outside to answer questions from the press concerning her candidacy, fielding question that touched on both her decision to run and controversies from her past. Liz Warren remained on message however, in a smart move, she stayed on message promising to work to help bring back the middle class. It was powerful. You can watch the press conference below.

Focusing on the Middle Class is a smart choice for Warren. A big part of why Donald Trump’s campaign and Bernie Sanders’ campaigns were so popular is the focus on this disappearing middle class. Hillary Clinton’s “late to the party” ignoring of it also helped her get painted as an elitist. Of course Trump is the cartoon caricature of an elitist, but the rhetoric helped. Elizabeth Warren is focusing on issues integral to Americans, as they continue to be taken advantage of by corporations. Here’s hoping she can pull this campaign through.
