  • Talk to Jessica Lesaca for an hour and you’ll see that she knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to go get it.

Fresh from the release of her new music video “Property” featuring Liane V, the Vine star and singer was our guest on the What’s Trending Podcast hosted by Shira Lazar and Jonathan Harris. If you haven’t checked out “Property” yet you totally should – it’s kind of like a 2015 version of “The Boy Is Mine” by Brandy and Monica.

  • “One of Liane’s verses is about flying to Dubai, and he bought me Jimmy Choos,” Jessica said. “It’s essentially the same message as ‘The Boy is Mine’ but a little more updated.”

She also talked about how there are so many more avenues to pursue a music career than when she was growing up.

“When I was little, I forced my sister and my cousin to join a girl group with me. And I wrote all the songs and I’d use a Cassio keyboard, and I’d make demo tapes with the intention to mail them out to record companies, but I never did it. I still have the tapes and I’m very glad I never mailed them out because they’re horrible, but they’re nice keepsakes.

“Now there’s YouTube, there’s Vine, there’s all these different ways that you can become famous. It’s a lot different now, there’s so many more opportunities.”

Jessica chatted with Shira and Jonathan about the latest trending stories, like whether the Starbucks Red Cups were anti-Christmas as YouTuber Josh Feuerstein claimed as he called for people to order coffees and trick baristas into writing “Merry Christmas” on them. “I love how his solution was to give more money to Starbucks,” she laughed. “It’s like okay, let’s buy stuff from them and make them say ‘Merry Christmas.’”

There was also Shia LaBeouf’s latest art installation of watching all his own movies on a live-stream. Jessica admitted to having a huge crush on him back when he was in “Even Stevens.” “He’s so weird now. It makes me kind of sad.”

We wrapped up the discussion with a quick game of Pop Song Pictionary, which Jessica totally killed at.
