  • Our last podcast of 2015 turned into an extravaganza of all things Shira Lazar as we looked back on the trends of the last year.

With all our other hosts and guests busy traveling and Christmas shopping this week, Jonathan Harris and Hayley Hoover decided to just get to know Shira a little better and reminisce about some of the wacky topics we’ve covered.

  • Of course the biggest news was “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” premiering, which led to movie awards season coming up in the next few months.

“I realized seeing all the nominations for all the awards shows, how few of the movies I saw this year,” Shira said. “I feel like last year I saw all the nominated movies.”

You’ll be interested to know that when Shira was nine years old, her favorite movie was “Pretty Woman” and she wanted to be like Julia Roberts’ character when she grew up, hanging out in a big city and going shopping a lot. Which she does – just without the prostitution part.

Jonathan and Hayley also quizzed Shira on her knowledge of geek culture like “Star Wars” and “Harry Potter” and asked her what kind of entertainment she was into when she was growing up, which introduced us to the concept of a “party motivator.” “I got people on the dance floor at bar mitzvahs and bat mitzvahs,” she explained. “I just got hired to make people dance.”

We also looked back on some of our favorite trending topics of the past year, including the whole Martin Shkreli saga over his pharmaceutical price gouging, Wu Tang Clan album purchase and recent arrest for fraud. “He’s like the most hated man in the country,” Jonathan said. “More than Trump, maybe.”

Hayley’s favorite topic was the blue-and-black dress and how everyone collectively lost their minds over it for 24 hours. “i loved the dress, that was my favorite day. I thought it was really cool. I remember I went home from work and my friend was saying, ‘Look at this, what color is this?’ and I thought she was joking, and then we thought everyone was just messing with us. My mom called me and was like, ‘What color do you think this dress is?’”
