Tubeathon 2016 Is Streaming Live!

The What’s Trending Tubeathon is back, and this time our unique digital media event will be supporting the American Red Cross’ 2016 Giving Day to help families affected by disasters like tornadoes and home fires.

We’ve teamed up with iHeartMedia for this year’s Tubeathon, a star-studded digital telethon and musical variety show. The event is taking place at the iHeartRadio Theater in Burbank on April 20, 2016 and will be streaming live on twitch.tv/whatstrending from 7-9pm PT.

People.com exclusively reports that American Idol runner-up La-Porsha Renae will be among the amazing artists performing at the event, along with fellow Idol alum Nick Fradiani, MAGIC!, Christina Grimmie, Nick Frandiani, Alyson Stoner, 80Fitz and many more.

Hosted by our own Shira Lazar and co-hosts Bart Baker, Quddus and Taryn Southern, Tubeathon 2016 will feature a mix of musical performances, live entertainment, and celebrity appearances. The show will include variety segments and appearances from fan-favorite influencers live from Tubeathon’s Draft Kings sponsored Tweet Bank, a modern day take on a charity phone bank. Watch for appearances from stars like Kandee Johnson, Lamorne Morris, Don Benjamin and more.

Throughout the live stream, viewers will be encouraged to participate and donate to the Red Cross by using the hashtag #help1family. For every Tweet with that tag, Craigslist founder Craig Newmark will donate $1 to Red Cross.

Every year, the Red Cross responds to nearly 66,000 disasters nationwide where a family has lost everything; the roof over their heads, their clothes, and their most cherished possessions. With less than $90 needed to support a family of three for one day, a gift toward Tubeathon and the Red Cross’ one-day awareness effort using #help1family can help provide urgent relief, such as a day’s worth of food, blankets, and other essentials.

A couple of months ago we worked with the Red Cross and iHeart Radio on this PSA featuring social media celebs like Bart Baker, GloZell Green and Trisha Hirshberger to promote the #2Steps2Minutes fire safety campaign.

In addition to using #help1family during Tubeathon, donations to the Red Cross can be made by visiting redcross.org/givingday. A $10 donation to the Red Cross can be made by texting REDCROSS to 90999.
