When Chelsea Handler announced that she will be ending her 7-year-run on E! in August, we knew that wouldn’t be the end for the comedian.

After months of negotiations, today Handler has officially announced that she has signed a deal with Netflix to create a worldwide talk show, airing in 2016. She says that her new show will just be an “updated format.” She still plans on giving her unfiltered opinions on entertainment. Her guest interviews aren’t going anywhere either.

“If I was going to continue working in this industry, I knew I had to do something outside the box to keep myself interested,” Handler said in a statement. “I wanted to sit with the cool kids at lunch, so I approached Netflix to make sure they were as cool as I thought they were, and when I confirmed my suspicions, like with any other future lover, I made my move.”

Netflix will start the deal off by airing Handler’s first hour-long stand-up comedy performance on October 10, 2014, which will be taped on June 20 at the Harris Theater in Chicago as part of her “Uganda Be Kidding Me” tour. She also plans on creating four docu-comedy specials for Netflix next year.

“I’m more excited than I’ve been in awhile, and the team at Netflix is the most forward thinking, alert group I’ve sat down with in ages.”
