It seems there’s nothing that Karl Lagerfeld can’t do.

“Le Corbusier goes to Versailles!” Lagerfeld declared at the Chanel couture show on Monday. “Modernity with baroque elements!”

The contrasting elements, not surprisingly, worked together brilliantly or as Vogue’s fashion journalist, Hamish Bowles asserted, “They got along famously.”

Bowles, who referred to this year’s set as a “palate cleanser,” enjoyed the sparse set quite a bit. After all, all attention went to the clothes.

How were the clothes, you ask?

“Each one a miracle of construction, workmanship, and sophisticated embellishment,” Bowles went on to gush in the article.
