Popular YouTuber Chester See has landed the plum role of Stacee Jaxx in the Broadway production of “Rock of Ages.” (It’s the role Tom Cruise played in the film adaptation.) See’s run at the historic Helen Hayes Theatre on Broadway begins October 17th and will continue through January 4th. See had the chance to audition after producers discovered his online catalog, including the mega-hit track “Whistle While I Work It,” which has so far earned over 4 million views.

Playing Stacee Jaxx will provide See with his debut role on Broadway. The character is a pop idol based on a number of real-life rock stars, including Guns n’ Roses front man Axl Rose. James Carpinello originally played the role on Broadway, while Chris Hardwick took it on for the Los Angeles premiere. Tom Cruise memorably played Jaxx in the “Rock of Ages” film.
Chester See has appeared numerous times on What’s Trending, and performed at the Garage by Ford at this year’s Bonnaroo Music and Arts festival as part of our “Escape to Roo” event.
