These baby blues are coming to the big city! The Bronx Zoo in New York is now home to this adorable group of little blue penguins. That's the name for the species: little blue penguins. (So cute!) Also called fairy penguins (even cuter? maybe!), these little guys were born in Sydney, Australia and have moved to the Big Apple as part of a breeding program. Because obviously the world needs as many tiny blue penguins as possible!
The Bronx Zoo provides this helpful description: "Named for their small size and characteristic bluish hue, little penguins are also known as blue penguins, little blue penguins, and fairy penguins. Full-grown adults are only about 13 inches tall and weigh 2 to 3 pounds. They are the smallest of the 18 penguin species and native to coastal southern Australia and New Zealand."
So cute! So blue!
