  • The creators behind everyone's favorite investigative podcast have some major news. No, Serial Season 3 isn't going to be released any earlier, but fans now have something else to look forward to while they wait.

New production company, Serial Productions, will be releasing one of three new podcast stories in development this March.

According to a press release, producer Brian Reed will host the limited series called, S-Town. The idea for this podcast came about nearly three years ago when an Alabama resident asked for "a reporter to investigate the son of a wealthy family who had allegedly been bragging that he got away with murder. Brian agreed to look into it. But then someone else ended up dead, and another story began to unfold - about a nasty feud, a hunt for hidden treasure and the mysteries of one man's life."

Oddly enough, production of this podcast started before Serial was even launched. Producer Julie Snyder reasoned that if the concept behind Serial worked (telling a story over several chapters) then S-Town would definitely be released.

Unlike Serial, all S-Town episodes will be released at once… giving us yet another little something to binge and obsess over.
