  • The world has no shortages of wondering what Disney characters would be like if they existed amongst us — according to Disneyland they would love us and sign autographs!— but this batch of haunting paintings from artist Tom Ward is something very special because it shows just how particularly awful this batch was. These modern Disney characters are thrown into self obsessed, self involved, and paranoid times.

Take poor Peter Pan for instance — he can’t fly into Wendy’s window due to security cameras! Both Cinderella and Prince Arthur from Sword in the Stone are too attached to their cell phones to be able to either talk to the prince or pull the sword from that darned stone! And Aladdin! Put down your X-Box controller and treat your girlfriend like a person, PLEASE.

  • Of course, it’s not all bad — it’s nice that LaFou and Gaston can feel comfortable about their actual sexualities — why going as far as to celebrate pride!

  • Less nice? The extinction of the elephants! The elephants have went extinct, and Dumbo pays his respects to them vis a vis a tower made of their ivory tusks. Folks, the world is broken and there is no cure and the way we treat animals is pretty darn vile.

  • The modern age! A weird and terrifying thing! Which is incidentally is why we escape into Disney movies. Tom Ward! You breaker of dreams! Why would you do such a thing!
