  • The great and eccentric fantasy author Terry Pratchett passed away tragically in 2015, leaving behind a legacy of great literature, an army of fans and quite a few unfinished novels. Well, sort of. As per the late author’s wishes, the hard drives containing his unfinished novels were to be destroyed by a steamroller — a wish communicated by his friend and occasional writing partner Neil Gaiman who said — “whatever he was working on at the time of his death to be taken out along with his computers, to be put in the middle of a road and for a steamroller to steamroll over them all”. Well, folks. Friend. Literature friends. Steamroller friends. It got crushed.

Rob Wilkins, who manages the Terry Pratchett estate, took his hard drives containing all of his unpublished novels into the road and indeed crushed them with a steamroller! Simply deleting it was not enough! No no no, a steamroller had to do the trick! But don’t worry, the broken hard drives will be featured at the Salisbury museum as part of a Terry Pratchett exhibit. I guess a wish this eccentric is as much Terry Prachett as any novel could ever be!
