Kanye West’s Fake “American Idol” Audition Was Amazing

A few months ago we heard that Kanye West himself had showed up to audition for the final season of American Idol. Well, now we’ve got the video.

Kanye raps the first verse from his monster 2004 hit “Gold Digger” for Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr. And he’s got a big ol’ grin on his face the whole time.

Ryan Seacrest interviewed Kim Kardashian outside, who expressed hope that the judges would see the spark of talent in Kanye that so many had ignored.

Fortunately for Kanye, the judges liked what they heard and gave him a ticket to Hollywood.

This will be the final season of American Idol, which premiered back in 2002 and quickly became a national sensation, inspiring a wave of copycat singing talent shows.

As for the audience, some people would have voted him into the next round, but others weren’t so impressed. Our host Paula Rhodes has more:
