Lupita Nyong'o Tries Stand-Up With Billy Eichner

She's one of the finest actresses of our generation. But can she do other comedians' material?

  • Lupita Nyong’o is one of the finest actresses of our generation. At 33, she’s already won an Oscar and has a character in the Star Wars universe. That’s two major accomplishments for a very young acting career. Now, she’s trying to move into the world of stand-up. With Billy Eichner. AKA the crazy man behind Billy on the Street.

Well, I don’t think running up to people with Billy Eichner is the most welcoming environment for a new stand-up. Especially a new stand-up reading more veteran stand-up comedians’ material. To be fair, I don’t think Billy chose the best material for Lupita to read anyway. The bit is more about the other people’s reactions.

Especially the guy at the end. “I lead a private life”. Oh please, you live in New York. Nobody’s private in New York. Can’t afford it, because the rent is too damn high. Privacy? Pshaw.

What do you think? Would Lupita’s original material be better than this? Let us know in the comments or @WhatsTrending on Twitter.
