Lena Dunham won ire due to comments on her podcast, Women of the Hour on an episode regarding reproductive choices after saying “I can still say I’ve never had an abortion, but I wish I had.”
The comments lit the internet on fire— with some discussing how strange the comments were, as if Lena Dunham is advocating the having of an abortion for the experience of it. An abortion, while making the choice to have being a right, is still an incredibly difficult experience. People commented on the tastelessness of the comments.

Lena Dunham herself responded on Instagram to the controversy, saying –“My latest podcast episode was meant to tell a multifaceted story about reproductive choice in America, … I’m so proud of the medley of voices in the episode. I truly hope a distasteful joke on my part won’t diminish the amazing work of all the women who participated…I take reproductive choice in America more seriously than I take literally anything else, and therefore own full responsibility for any words I speak that don’t convey this truth clearly.”
Lena Dunham then linked to AbortionFunds.org, a website which connects women with abortion centers, encouraging any and all to donate.
