Grace Helbig on The Future of DailyGrace and The Possibility of Moving to TV at Samsung SXSW 2013

  • Poor Grace did not have such an easy time getting to Austin, TX for SXSW, as evidenced by her latest DailyGrace video. But she did make it, and just in time to hit the Samsung Blogger Lounge and chat with Shira Lazar about the future of her smash hit YouTube series, prospective TV projects, and going on the road with fellow 'tuber Hannah Hart.

Even though she's riding the momentum of winning two Streamys and holding the honor of being one of the most subscribed-to women on YouTube, Grace is always thinking about what's coming next.

"TV has definitely been something that I've pursued before I even pursued the Internet, so that will hopefully become something in the future. I've been in talks with people," she teases. "Maybe some live comedy performances across the United States in tandem with 'Hello Harto.'"

Who wouldn't want to see Grace and Hannah in their hometown? The two bonafide comediennes have already tested the live performance format with "You Deserve a Drink" pun master Mamrie Hart at NerdMelt in L.A.

Back to the digital world, it's impossible for Grace to choose an absolute all-time favorite DailyGrace video because there are literally thousands and they're all her babies, but she does point to a memorable one from back in 2008 on My Damn Channel. "It's just two minutes of me trying to start a DailyGrace but I put in applause over it so I can never start it and that's the entire thing," she says. "I was like, 'I'm groundbreaking in comedy! This is gonna put me on the map!'"

But can DailyGrace be daily forever? "It's a hard question," Grace admits. "I'm just going to say, 'yes!' hashtag maybe?"

If you're at SXSW on Monday, March 11, Grace will be hosting an event at the IFC Crossroads House, sponsored by Subway and distributed by My Damn Channel, where they'll screening web series by students at NYU and USC. Go check it out!
