  • Popular music duo Matt and Kim stop by the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus to talk about making their viral “It’s Alright” music video, getting into the Harlem Shake meme and performing at SXSW 2013.

Speaking of their hit “It’s Alright” music video – in which the couple performs a synchronized dance on a bed, with their eyes closed – Kim says, “It was an idea Matt came up with actually many years ago for another song, ‘Good Old Fashioned Nightmare,’ but we ended up never making the video.” Then, when they were recording this new tune, the pulled from that old idea and finally brought it to life.

It’s evident that Matt and Kim are so in sync while executing the choreography. “You want to know how compatible we really are?” Matt asks. “We shared a twin bed for five years!”

The two are also ingrained in the viral YouTube scene based on their hugely popular Harlem Shake video, which has surpassed 11 million views. But that’s not the only impressive number associated with their contribution to the craze. Matt reveals, “I just recently heard we had the Guinness World Record for the Harlem Shake with the most people in it.”
