The cast and crew of the breakout YouTube and Cartoon Network series Annoying Orange stop by the Samsung Blogger Lounge at SXSW 2013 to talk about running an online show and TV show, awesome celebrity guest stars, and creepy Annoying Orange Halloween masks.
“We did this big jump to TV, but we continue to do the web show every week,” creator and Orange voice actor Dane Boedigheimer says. “We kind of hope to pave the way because we want this to happen for other people as well.
Boe points out that on the TV show, the longer format allows for more character development. But on the web show, “we can do more topical things,” because they can turn the stories around much more quickly.
“[On] the web series we can kind of do what we want, but with Cartoon Network we get notes […] it’s a little bit, I guess, stricter,” says voice of Grandpa Lemon, Kevin Brueck.
