  • For the second year in a row, What’s Trending streamed live from the Samsung Hope For Children gala blue carpet, where we teamed up with Samsung to fulfill their commitment to causes that help children discover the wonder of life, learning, and our planet.

At the star-studded event, Shira Lazar talks with “The View” host Sherri Shepherd about the evolution of the talk show and her new book, “Plan D.”

“I was here with my husband a couple years ago and I was so impressed with Samsung because they really get behind charities and give them awareness,” Shepherd says of the Hope For Children gala. “And they’re getting behind my charity, which is YAI, and that’s for children and adults who have disabilities. And my son has special needs.”

“My hope for children is that they will have the same opportunities that I had,” she says. “They’re going to run this world when I’m in my wheelchair.”

As for her run “The View,” Shepherd notes the changes happening, with hosts coming and going. “I’m still there. Hanging on by the skin of my teeth,” she says. “I was so afraid Barbara was going to come out of her chicken pox and go, ‘Why is that girl still at the table?’ So I passed the test. But Joy is leaving! Barbara’s leaving.”

Shepherd also takes a moment to promote her new book, “Plan D: How To Lose Weight and Beat Diabetes (Even If You Don’t Have It),” which hit #13 on the New York Times Bestseller List.
