On Sunday, December 8, our own Shira Lazar and Tyler Oakley hosted the red carpet for The Trevor Project‘s “Trevor Live” gala - the 15th annual, star-studded event that raises awareness and funds for programs that help LGBTQ teens in crisis.
"Glee" star Darren Criss snuck up on Shira and Tyler to tell kids to never stop believing, and even answer some fan questions!
"When I fell into the Hollywood rabbit hole, this was the first organization I got involved with," he says. "It's nice to know that this is something that I can continue to be a part of."
In response to some Twitter questions, he reveals that some of his inspirations growing up were Sammy Davis, Mel Brooks, and Charlie Chaplin. The "multitaskers" as he calls them.
He also points out that his favorite part about TrevorLIVE is the social media interaction. "I think it's really cool that we live in a day and age where it isn't closed off at the gates, that people at home can ask questions and get involved."
For those watching at home who may need some extra help, he says, "You have resources and you live in a world where you can surround yourself with people who support you ... and who are more than willing to understand you and help you out."
