  • On Sunday, December 2, our own Shira Lazar and Tyler Oakley hosted the red carpet of The Trevor Project‘s “Trevor Live” gala, the annual star-studded event that raises awareness and funds for programs that help LGBT in crisis.

“Pitch Perfect” star Anna Kendrick takes some time to chat about performing for the first time in a while and the importance of acceptance across the country.

Anna’s been doing musical theater since she was 12 (some might remember her as the high-strung Fritzy in the movie, “Camp”) but tonight marks the frist time that she’s performing on a stage for people (meaning – not on a film set) since she was 17! And, just to heighten the pressure, she’s singing the emotional ballad, “For Good” with musical theater legend, Kristin Chenoweth, the original Glinda from “Wicked.”

“I’ve said no consistently, but then for Trevor I was like, yeah!” Anna reveals about being asked to do performance pieces.

Speaking of the importance of Trevor’s message, she says, “I think we take for granted that we get to live in a city like this where our life and our lifestyles are very different. I except everyone out here to be tolerant and it still shocks me that that isn’t a universal thing.”

Anna adds, “I’m just so happy to be involved in this evening and so happy that Trevor Project is doing the amazing work that they do.”
