  • If you did not grow up watching the various Charlie Brown movies around the holidays, or just in general, you were most likely robbed of your childhood. People who are familiar with the Peanuts crew probably remember them best as a comic strip in the daily newspaper. The last Peanuts comic strip was published nearly fifteen years ago. Charles Schulz’s wrote the following letter to his readers to announce his retirement:

    “Dear Friends,

I have been fortunate to draw Charlie Brown and his friends for almost fifty years. It has been the fulfillment of my childhood ambition.

Unfortunately, I am no longer able to maintain the schedule demanded by a daily comic strip. My family does not wish “Peanuts” to be continued by anyone else, therefore I am announcing my retirement.

I have been grateful over the years for the loyalty of our editors and the wonderful support and love expressed to me by fans of the comic strip.

Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Linus, Lucy… how can I ever forget them…

    — Charles M. Schulz”

The comic was never continued by anyone else, but reruns are continuously published in the Sunday paper. Numerous video games, Broadway musicals, commercials, and television shows were developed around the Peanuts characters after his passing; and thankfully the classic legacy is continued on by the constant replay of the various holiday movies, especially around Halloween and Christmas. In case you haven’t heard, The Peanuts crew is about to make an incredible comeback with The Peanuts Movie which is being released November 6, 2015. Be sure to check out the new trailer!
