Taco Bell Exec Gets Fired After Assaulting Uber Driver

There are plenty of news stories out there of Uber passengers dealing with belligerent and dangerous drivers, so it might be easy to forget that drivers have to put up with a bunch of crap too.

Take Uber driver Edward Caban, who picked up a Taco Bell corporate manager named Benjamin Golden in Newport Beach, California. Golden was so drunk that he kept falling over in the back seat and couldn’t give Caban his home address. But when Caban asked Golden to get out of the car, he refused and started hitting the driver over the head and yanking his hair.

The whole thing was caught on Caban’s dashcam. Golden only stopped assaulting him when Caban pepper-sprayed him in the face (and got in the memorable line “You got maced, motherfucker!”).

Golden was arrested on Friday night and booked on misdemeanor charges of public intoxication and assaulting a cab driver. In a statement given to the Los Angeles Times, Taco Bell said “Given the behavior of the individual, it is clear he can no longer work for us. We have also offered and encouraged him to seek professional help.”
