This week, Queen Elizabeth II of England celebrated her 90th birthday in style. (Okay, her actual birthday is April 21, but her official birthday is June 11th. Like everything with royalty, it’s both charmingly quaint and needlessly complicated.) She had everything: pomp, pageantry, over 900 horses, and Kylie Minogue. But what’s grabbing everyone’s attention is the Queen’s new meme — not her first meme, but a meme nonetheless.
Her Majesty wore a bright green-colored outfit that just so happens to match the color used in Hollywood green screens. Call it “chroma-key chic.” And the internet, being the internet, pounced. Users of Imgur, Reddit, and other social media sites photoshopped the Queen into some pretty crazy outfits — outfits that got covered on the Daily Mail, New York Magazine, Buzzfeed, and more.
