    Original story continues below…

  • And now, a man who needs no introduction: America’s least favorite slimeball, Martin Shkreli. He raised the price of Daraprim. He beefed with Ghostface Killah. He got arrested for fraud, to the joy of thousands. He pled the fifth in Congress, over and over. Hardly anyone has gotten this much negative coverage, on this site or any other, in the past year. Wouldn’t you just love to punch him in the face?

Well, according to Shkreli at least, one woman will. Bear in mind, this is the same guy who trolled the world by claiming to have lost $15 million in Bitcoin on exclusive rights to Kanye’s The Life of Pablo album in these memorable tweets:

  • (For what it’s worth, he almost certainly didn’t get scammed out of $15 million, so hold on to your schadenfreude.)

Shkreli made headlines a few days ago when he attempted the greatest heel/face turn in American history in this tweet:

  • In a more recent tweet, Shkreli completes the turn:

  • That’s right: according to Shkreli, he’s raised $100,000 — including $50,000 of his own money — for the family of a deceased friend, all through the power of having the world’s most punchable face. If there’s anything I learned from an adolescence wasted watching anime, it’s that even the greatest villains can be redeemed. This might not make up for the deaths he’s almost certainly caused by raising the price of a life-saving drug, but at least he’s (apparently) trying.

Of course, this could all just be yet another publicity stunt. If it is, that’s a new low even for Shkreli. But we’re hoping it’s not. And we’re hoping the punch gets captured on video.

What do you think? Is there anything Shkreli could do that would redeem him in your eyes? Let us know in the comments below or @WhatsTrending on Twitter.
