  • Being a girl is so difficult. It seems like everyday there’s a new beauty standard to live up to, and speaking for my fellow gal pals, we definitely do not have the time to keep up. I mean, someone has already tried to protest our trusty yoga pants… what more are you going to do to us?!

Most recently, the beauty/fashion world has been fascinated by a new article in Vogue called, “Desperately Seeking Cleavage.” The December issue of the magazine that is set to hit stands this week tackles the following question: is cleavage still in, or going out of style?

The debate started when writer Kathleen Baird-Murray noticed that cleavage had been absent from runway shows for awhile. Though I’m not a complete fashion-junkie, I think it’s fair to say that the runway isn’t an ideal representation of real women. Models’ small body frames are not generally known for having much cleavage, so how can we know if it’s really still generally trendy or not?

Other sites have suggested that cleavage may be going out of style either because women too often get harassed about it on social media or A-list actresses like Kristen Stewart, Daisy Ridley, and Lupita Nyong’o have set a new fashion standard.

One question: why does this have to be a competition? We’re all beautiful, ladies!

Though some women may now feel like they’re not “trendy” thanks to Vogue *eyeroll*, it is nice to see others feel more confident about their body figures. You can check out some Twitter responses to the trend below:
