  • Chance the Rapper made history earlier this week when the Grammy Award nominations were announced. As an unsigned artist, Chance picked up seven nominations, the most ever in one year by someone unsigned by a label. One of these nominations is for Best Rap Album. It’s been a big year for Chance, as he was invited to the last Obama dinner, and privately performed for the Obama family.

This is also after Chance famously said in Kanye’s “Ultralight Beam” that “you gotta sell it to snatch the Grammy”. While he’s still not won the Grammy (yet), turns out you don’t have to sell it to snatch the Grammy nom.

According to Billboard, the Grammy awards Chance is nominated for include: Best New Artist, Best Rap Performance, Best Rap/Sung Performance (as part of “Ultralight Beam”), three nominations for Best Rap Song (“No Problem”, “Ultralight Beam”, and a writing credit on Kanye’s “Famous”), and Best Rap Album.
