Employee Takes “Mental Health Day,” Boss Has Amazing Response

  • We’ve all had those days where there’s just too much going on in real life, and it gets hard to handle then you have to wake up and go to work. Madelyn Parker, a web developer from Ann Arbor, Michigan, shared an e-mail exchange between her and her boss that has gone viral.

    Parker had one of those days and wrote in to her colleagues, saying “I’m taking today and tomorrow to focus on my mental health. Hopefully, I’ll be back next week refreshed and back to 100%.” The idea of taking a “mental health day” is fairly simple: Employees use their paid sick days to stay home to take care of mental health issues like depression or anxiety.
