  • Today, protesters marched in front of Wall Street, demanding change for a system they believe that favors the rich and financial institutions above the working class and common American. The Day or Rage, which is being tweeted about with the hashtag #OccupyWallStreet, was inspired by the Arab Spring protests, and those involved hope it will bring change to the U.S. system.

The event was heavily promoted Adbusters, an anti-capitalism publication, with the support of hacktivist Anonymous. People intend to camp out in Wall Street to show their disgust with the system.

Many or the areas were blocked to protesters, but that didn’t stop people from marching Wall Street.

However, the most commonly retweeted and tweeted about sentiments about the day online seem to be negative or not supportive. Many are questioning the futility of their efforts and whether or not the press is blowing things out of proportion.
