“Steve Jobs Day” proclaimed in the state of California

  • California Governer Jerry Brown has made it official-October 16 is now proclaimed Steve Jobs Day in the state of California. Brown made the announcement on Twitter late Friday.

    “Steve Jobs was a great California innovator who demonstrated what a totally independent and creative mind can accomplish,” Brown posted on his blog October 5, the day Jobs’ passing was announced. “Few people have made such a powerful and elegant imprint on our lives. Anne and I wish to express our deepest sympathy to Steve’s wife, Laurene, and their entire family.”

    Stanford University is also honoring the Apple icon tonight at a special private memorial service including Silicon Valley’s elite who were sent invites last week. Apple employees will also be commemorating the visionary during a private event on Wednesday at 10am at the headquarters in Cupertino, CA.
