  • As we discussed in What’s Trending’s special #Stopbullying livestream yesterday, the act of bullying is alive and prevalent in high schools across the country, particularly toward LGBT students. A prime example of a young gay person being beaten at Union-Scioto High School in Chillicothe, Ohio, was recently captured on video and then posted on Facebook. Rebecca Collins, the mother of the boy who was attacked, told Channel 6 WSYX News “they did it just because he’s a homosexual.” The victim said this isn’t the first time he’s been bullied.

“I covered myself and shielded my body, and he kept hitting,” he said.”Nobody did anything.”

  • With recent news of bullying resulting in suicide, and with October being Anti-bullying Month, the video above can serve as a call to action for people to take a stand against bullying whenever they can.

“Just for all the people out there that have that hate in their heart, they need to let it go,” said Collins.
