This surge in "former-Gator Hating" comes amidst a program milestone for FSU. Thursday night, the Seminoles became the third program to ever qualify for a bowl in 30 consecutive seasons. Only Nebraska (35) and Michigan (33) have had more consecutive bowl appearances in history, however, neither streak is currently active.
Despite FSU qualifying for a bowl, there is little chance the bowl chosen on their behalf will include the winner of LSU-Alabama. By all accounts, the winner of this game will have a clear path to the BCS National Championship in January, provided their record remains clean.
The stats surrounding the preparation for the game are astounding.
-Tuscaloosa airport, a small municipal airport, in the hometown of the University of Alabama typically sees 30-40 planes on a game weekend. This weekend it is expecting upwards of 250.
-The lowest priced ticket on StubHub.com is currently $400--it's in the nosebleeds. The highest priced ticket is $1,056--it's in row 46 on the 50-yard line. Parking passes are also ridiculous: a $106 average price.
-Alabama's Bryant-Denny Stadium's record capacity is 101,821 fans. On a game weekend, a few thousand fans visit Tuscaloosa to simply tailgate and not participate in the game festivities. City officials are expecting an additional 140,000 visitors to the city.
-Celebrities expected in the crowds include: LeBron James, Chris Paul, Hank Williams, Jr., Kenny Chesney, Lil' Wayne, Brian Williams, and even former-Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
