  • Michael Jackson‘s personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter by a 12 person jury this afternoon in a Los Angeles County courtroom.

Murray had stood trial for the death of his friend and client, Jackson, in the high-profile case for a little over a month before the closing statements were issued last Thursday. The defense had to endure the testimony of 49 witnesses and charges of negligence due to Murray’s administration of the powerful intravenous anesthetic Propofol.

  • Many of Jackson’s supporters were in attendance for the duration of the trial. In fact, on one occasion they were addressed by the court to remain in order by the LA Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor, who presided over the entirety of the case, when Jackson’s autopsy photographs were presented.

The seven men and five women that comprised the jury, were not sequestered during their deliberation or for the extent of the trial. The Jury deliberated for nearly nine hours between the closing arguments on Thursday and this morning. The decision was unanimous.

The verdict comes just over two years and four months since the artist’s death on June 25th, 2009.

Amidst the news of the jury’s verdict, crowds gathered outside the courthouse chanting for “Justice for Michael.” Videos like the one below popped up all over the internet leading up to the reading.
