  • Wednesday night, thousands of Penn State students in State College, PA, marched downtown in a display of fury and frustration over the Penn State trustees decision to fire football coach Joe Paterno and university president Graham Spanier. The students chanted Paterno’s name, tore down light poles and overturned a television news van. This wave of rage only added to the controversy around how the university has handled sex abuse allegations against assistant coach, Jerry Sandusky.

The 67-year-old Sandusky allegedly inflicted approximately 40 counts of sexual abuse on 8 boys over a span of 15 years, according to the 23-page grand-jury report.

  • The reaction online has been tremendous from both supporters and non-supporters of the legendary Nittany Lion coach. The Twitter stir has even caused Super-Tweeter Ashton Kutcher to take a break from the microblogging site after a few controversial posts about the Sandusky Scandal.

“As of immediately I will stop tweeting until I find a way to properly manage this feed,” Kutcher wrote Wednesday night. “I feel awful about this error. Won’t happen again.”

Other than that, the reactions online have varied from jokes to indictment of media coverage, and all manners of emotion.
