Is Donovan McNabb Unwanted?

  • Yesterday, the Minnesota Vikings released six-time Pro Bowler and former Philadelphia Eagles stand-out Donovan McNabb. Today, not one of the 32 NFL teams claimed him from waivers.

    McNabb has struggled this season for Leslie Frazier’s 2-7 Vikings. He was replaced by rookie Christian Ponder midway through a loss to the Chicago Bears on October 16th. And, he has not taken a single snap since.

    McNabb stated during a halftime interview on the NFL Network’s Thursday Night Football, that he hoped this release would lead to a new chapter in his career.

    Many are predicting that this chapter is now titled “retirement.” Mainly due to the fact that McNabb’s release was not prompted by other interested teams, but rather a desire to “move on” from the situation in Minnesota. And, with many teams in contention needing a quarterback, news of McNabb’s release has generated little-to-no interest in the 35-year-old signal caller from Syracuse.
