  • After pulling their advertising dollars from TLC’s reality ‘All American Muslim’, Lowes Home Improvement took to their Facebook page to apologize to their customers and explain why they made the decision. Since making the announcement on Saturday, the post has gotten over 26,000 comments with many including anti-Muslim and anti-Islamic hate speech.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) put out a press release Tuesday requesting for action to be taken and “a meeting with Lowe’s officials to seek a resolution to the controversy that is ‘consistent with America’s longstanding tradition of religious tolerance and inclusion.'”

Hip hop mogul, Russell Simmons, also spoke up on his own Twitter account announcing that he had bought up all remaining ad space on ‘All-American Muslim’ to protest Lowe’s decision, “Just purchased remaining spots for #allamericanmuslim for next week The show is now sold out! keep your money @lowes and we will keep ours.” Simmons then posted on his own website, GlobalGrind.com, that he is officially boycotting Lowe’s and calling for the resignation of its CEO, Robert Noblick.

Of course, Jon Stewart was quick to add his commentary to the whole ordeal during The Daily Show Tuesday night. Watch the video on Mediaite.
