The highly anticipated silver screen thriller "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" saw disappointing numbers at the box office over the weekend, but that hasn't stopped the flick from receiving rave reviews from the social web. According to BoxOfficeMojo.com, the David Fincher helmed film raked in $13 million and came in fourth place among top contenders. "Mission Impossible—Ghost Protocol" stole first place bringing in $26.5 million.
Fortunately for Fincher and "Tattoo's" male lead, Daniel Craig, online fans are loving the girl sporting the ink, Rooney Mara. Winning the role of Lisbeth Salander over big name starlets such as Scarlett Johansson and Natalie Portman, Mara recently garnered a Golden Globe nomination for her performance. She's definitely made quite the transformation since playing Mark Zuckerberg's girlfriend in Fincher's "The Social Network."
Mara told the Seattle Times that preparing for the role of Lisbeth was intense to say the least. "From the second I got the part, I was in computer training, I was kick-boxing, I was learning how to ride the motorcycle, I was skateboarding, I was reading all these books and watching all these movies...I went to a center for women who have been sexually abused. I went to a school called the Help Group that teaches kids with autism or Asperger's."
