  • Tis the day after Christmas, also known in some parts of the world as Boxing Day. Originally, the day was commemorated for wealthy people to give a box of gifts to their servants. Today, in Great Britain, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand, the occasion is recognized as a bank holiday and a hunt for shopping bargains, similar to America's Black Friday. This means consumers are out in droves looking for deals.

According to the Montreal Gazette, more than 1,000 people waited outside Best Buy in the freezing cold to jump on product sales. In London, customers started lining up at some stores as early at 1:30 in the morning. A number of people are taking to the web and activating cyber boxing day, as a way to avoid crowds. It's undoubtedly the biggest online shopping day in countries that celebrate the occasion.

  • Here's what people are saying online about the holiday. Of course, there's been some discrepancy over the real meaning of the event.
