American goalkeeper and New Jersey native Tim Howard did the unthinkable on Wednesday during a match between his side, Everton, and Bolton of the English Premier League: he scored an epic goal.
Howard cleared the ball across nearly the entirety of the pitch before it bounced near the 18-yard line and chipped itself inside Bolton goalkeeper Adam Bogdan’s net.
Howard played it cool after the goal; he stood still seconds after the goal before being energetically embraced by teammates.
His goal marks only the fourth time in the history of the EPL that a goalkeeper scored during . Howard, who is also the starting goalkeeper for the United State’s men’s national team, remarkably is the second American keeper to score a goal in the EPL. Brad Friedel scored while playing for Blackburn.
While his goal was incredible and gave Bolton a temporary lead, Howard side lost the game 2-1.
