  • The phrase “glitter bomb” was not exactly a common one in the American lexicon prior to the beginning of the GOP candidate race.

But the four remaining GOP candidates have all fallen victim to glitter bombings, an act of social protest that involves throwing large amounts of glitter on those who are opposed to LGBTQ rights. It’s now a common phrase after becoming common practice among activists attending GOP candidate events.

Newt Gingrich, Ron Paul, Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney have all “tasted the rainbow,” a phrase people usually yell after throwing the glitter. While some find the action rude or in bad taste, LGBTQ supporters use the activity as a way to calling attention to the candidate’s lack of support for the LGBTQ community.

But who’s been glitter bombed the most times?

A quick YouTube search reveals that Santorum, the recent winner of the Colorado, Minnesota and Missouri caucuses on Tuesday, has the misfortunate title of most popular glitter bomb target. He’s been bombed four times, and all four occasions were caught on video.

After Santorum is Romney, with two glitter bombs, including one during a rally in Colorado on Tuesday. Gingrich and Paul each have one, although Gingrich’s came before he was running for president in May of last year.
