  • 24-year-old Sara Ganim received this year’s Pulitzer Prize for Local Reporting, making her one of the youngest journalists to ever win the award. The prize was given in recognition of Ganim’s relentless investigation into the Penn State sex abuse scandal that broke out this year.

    Currently a crime reporter at Patriot-News in Harrisburg, Ganim started covering the scandal almost two years ago, long before it became a national story. She was responsible for breaking the news that a grand jury was investigating Penn State Assistant Football Coach Jerry Sandusky for sexual abuse allegations. And she’s still on the case — with Sandusky’s trial set to start in early June.
