  • For some, Saturday night will go down as the night boxing died. For others, the night will go down as the night Timothy Bradley Jr. proved to the world that he is among the best boxers on the planet.

Whatever the opinion, in the end Bradley Jr. defeated Manny Pacquiao in a controversial split decision on Saturday night in the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The win ended a unbeaten streak for Pacquiao that started in 2005, and gave Bradley the WBO welterweight belt.

The decision, as well as the names of the two fighters, instantly became worldwide trending topics seconds after the decision on Twitter.

Among those tweeting included celebrities, professional athletes and a handful of former boxers, including former world champions Oscar De La Hoya, Lennox Lewis, Evander Holyfield and George Foreman.

According to social media indexing site Topsy, in the last 24 hours, mentions of “Pacquiao” numbered at 182,000 on Twitter, and more than 190,000 for “Bradley.”

The tweets were mostly expressing frustration over what most felt was a bad decision from the judge’s scorecards.

Let us know what you think. Do you agree with the celebs?
