  • Tonight’s Twitter trends were basically a roll call of the American Theatre Wing’s 66th Annual TONY Awards presenters, winners, and performers.

Broadcast live on CBS, the celebration filled the Beacon Theatre with guests such as Andrew Garfield, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Nick Jonas, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Sheryl Crow, as the Great White Way pulled all the stops to bring mainstream audiences to the East Coast’s home of theatre. But, of course, Broadway has enough to boast about with its own legends and newcomers, most of whom were trending tonight on Twitter.

Finally, it seems inevitable that a meme will emerge from this screencap of James Earl Jones being confused and/or disappointed upon hearing that fellow nominee James Corden, won the TONY Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in a Play.
