  • Oscar and Emmy-winning screenwriter Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network, The West Wing) is giving us a fresh chance to lap up his witty dialogue with his new show, The Newsroom, which premiered last night on HBO.

During the broadcast and into the morning, “The Newsroom,” #Newsroom, and “Aaron Sorkin” took turns trending on Twitter in the U.S. According to Topsy.com, “The Newsroom” was mentioned almost 6,000 times in the past day and over 3,000 times in the past 11 hours.

Longtime Sorkin fans and new viewers took to the social network to chirp out their thoughts about the introduction to the much-hyped series. Among them were today’s journalists responsible for delivering our news via new and traditional platforms.

They had no problem telling us how they felt about the fictional representation of their own similarly fast-paced and fickle working worlds.

  • And then, of course, there’s Patton Oswalt’s Twitter commentary, which should never be overlooked.

    Alas! The Internet responds: @IAmDrunkSam.
