  • During the first day of Google's I/O Developers Conference at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, the search engine giant unveiled its new Nexus 7 tablet, Android with Jellybean OS, and Internet-connected glasses, proving its power in taking the tech world by storm.

    Here are the major announcements that had everyone tweeting and talking.


    Nexus 7

    Nexus 7 tablet, made by Asus, is most stunning for its price point of $199. The tablet is equipped with a 7-inch display, nine hours of battery live, and the new Jellybean OS. The product will be available for delivery in July via Google Play. Google also unveiled information for the Nexus Q, a "Google TV" device that streams music and multimedia at home.

    (over 79,000 mentions today, over 9,000 in the past hour)
    The updated Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS includes smart widgets that automatically resize, voice search and typing, Google Now, richer notifications, and the iTunes competitor, Google Play. Those with Galaxy Nexus, Moto Xoom, Nexus S  devices will receive over-the-air Jellybean updates in July.

    Google co-founder Sergey Brin wowed the crowd with this showcase. Parachutists jumped out of a blimp while donning the Internet-connected glasses, showing the conference audience a view from the sky via the wearable device. They then landed on the very building in which their 6,000-person audience was seated. Prototypes will be sold to developers for $1,500.
