  • In a major victory for the Obama administration, the Supreme Court of the United Stated upheld the health care reform bill on Thursday that makes individual insurance a requirement for American. Chief Justice John Roberts cast the deciding vote, and he was joined by Stephen Breyer, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor.

Twitter was on fire with tweets relating to the decision, the second major SCOTUS decision after they weighed in on Arizona’s immigration law early this week, and several terms relating to the bill were worldwide trending topics.

In the past hour, Topsy.com calculated that mentions of “SCOTUS” numbered in the 16,000s, while mentions of “Obamacare” reached 29,000 in the past hour. Several politicians, including some of the former Republican presidential candidacy hopefuls, took to their Twitter accounts to express their disagreement with the court’s decision.
