There was a lot to talk and tweet about last night during the 2012 BET Awards, which was hyped up from performances, tributes, and watching the throne.
To start the night off, show host Samuel L. Jackson (4,000+ mentions in past 13 hours) and Red Hook Summer director Spike Lee (11,000+ in past 16 hours) got the crowd pumped up with a parody version of Jay-Z and Kanye West’s hit song “… In Paris.” Naturally, some loved it, some didn’t.

Perhaps the funniest moment of the event came when Beyonce (124,000+ in the past day) lost to Jay-Z (49,000+ in the past day) and Kanye West’s (13,000+ mentions in the past day) The Throne for Video of the Year, the tension of which was diffused when Beyonce’s husband interrupted West during his speech, poking fun at the Taylor Swift debacle of ’09.

Speaking of Kanye West, one of the only BET-centric Twitter trends to still be going strong this morning in the U.S. was “Kim K,” with tweeps commenting on Kim Kardashian’s (3,000+ in past 10 hours) appearance at the awards show and speculating on her relationship with West.
Beyonce & Jay-Z’s love is SO real. Kim K & Kanye’s relationship looks forced.
